We treat patients of all ages…

Your initial consultation will consist of your oral and maxillofacial surgeon examining your mouth and face, taking a history of your condition and your health generally and then explaining the diagnosis and treatment options. By providing the following information at your initial consultation you can greatly assist us in making the best possible treatment plan for you:

  • Your referral slip and any x-rays if applicable
  • A list of medications you are presently taking
  • If you have medical or dental insurance please bring your card
  • Please bring your current Medicare Card
  • If we have posted to you your medical questionnaire and privacy policy, please complete and bring to your appointment
  • You can complete your medical questionnaire and private policy online

It is important that all patients under the age of 16 be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the time of the consultation.

Your pre-operative consultation…

A physical examination is mandatory for those patients undergoing IV Sedation or General Anaesthesia. This is undertaken by your Specialist Anaesthetist, usually at hospital on the day of your surgery, but if you have significant health issues, it may be necessary for a consultation prior to your surgery date. It is important to have nothing to eat or drink a minimum of 6 hours prior to your surgery, and will need an adult companion to drive you home.

It is imperative to notify our staff if you have a medical condition that may be a concern prior to surgery, such as:

  • Diabetes
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Artificial Heart Valves and Joints
  • Rheumatic Fever
  • Taking blood thinners such as Warfarin or Plavix.

Retrieving x-rays…

If your dentist or GP has taken x-rays of your mouth, you may request they be forwarded to our office. Alternatively you can pick them up and bring them to our surgery. If no x-rays have been taken, we will need to conduct some x-rays at our facility where we use digital radiography.

The Australian Dental Association has now eased restrictions and we are now able to offer appointments to all patients.
