At a glance

  • CBCT (Cone-Beam Computed Tomography) on site
  • Open to specialist, dentist and outpatient referrals
  • Formal radiologist report, usually 1 to 2 weeks
  • Coordinated by a radiographer with 35+ years’ experience

We provide CBCT (Cone-Beam Computed Tomography) scanning on site. A cone-beam scan captures the jaws, teeth and surrounding structures in three dimensions, giving the detail needed for implant planning, assessment of impacted teeth and a range of other surgical and diagnostic questions.

All imaging within the practice is coordinated by our radiographer, Billie-Joe Edmonds (BJ), who brings over 35 years’ experience across private and public health.

Who can refer

Anyone can refer a patient for imaging. Rebates differ by referral source: only patients referred by a specialist receive a Medicare rebate for imaging. Patients referred by a general dentist will not receive a Medicare rebate, though they may be able to claim through their private health fund if they hold the relevant cover.

How to refer

Referrers request a scan through our online referral form. The radiologist’s report is emailed directly back to the referrer once it is complete.

Preparing for your scan

There is nothing you need to do beforehand. Immediately before the scan, we will ask you to remove facial and ear piercings, take any metal out of hair ties or headbands, and remove dentures. Metal shows up on the scan and can obscure the area we need to see.

Your results

A formal report from our radiologist usually takes one to two weeks, and is emailed to the referring practitioner.
